Before I begin my actual blog, I wanted to explain the meaning behind it all. Why did I come up with the name Perfectly Imperfect? What is this blog all about?
First and foremost, this is a Christian blog. My main goal is to lead people to Christ by showing the world (or anyone who reads this) just how desperately I, myself, NEED Jesus. If I can lead just ONE person to Christ, I will consider this blog a success.
Why do I so desperately need Jesus, you might ask? Well, to put it simply, it’s because I am so undeniably IMPERFECT! I wholeheartedly believe that it is a Christian’s job to put our imperfections (AKA sins) on display for all to see because humans are, at our very core, sinners. And what do sinners need? JESUS!
And as Christians, if we pretend like we’re “perfect” Jesus-following saints who never make mistakes, we’re doing our non-Christian neighbors a HUGE disservice. You see, perfect people (if there ever were such a thing besides Christ himself) don’t sin. And people who don’t sin don’t need a savior. They essentially eliminate the significance of Jesus living a perfect life, dying on the cross, and rising on the third day.
I think a large part of society today believes that Christians are largely hypocritical – preaching one thing on Sunday and living a different life Monday through Saturday. Let me be clear: just because I go to church on Sunday does not mean that I am somehow a more “saintly’ (is that a word?) person. Sure I try to learn from the preaching and worship through my oh-so-quiet and off-pitch singing and apply everything to the rest of my life, but if you think there’s a perfect life behind my semi-nice church dress and my happy face, you’ve got me all wrong.
I’m here to set the record straight. I am perfectly made by a perfect God. Every hair on my head, every freckle, every cell within me, was perfectly created and molded by the One who makes no mistakes. But at my core, I am a sinner. I am broken. I am a mess. I am imperfect. Perfectly Imperfect.
To God be ALL the Glory
Love, Grace
